Snoopy No Bake Cookies

(photo from flickr)
INGREDIENTS
2 cups white sugar
1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1/2 cup milk
1/2 cup margarine
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 pinch salt
1/2 cup chunky peanut butter
3 cups quick cooking oats

DIRECTIONS
In a saucepan over medium heat, combine the sugar, cocoa, milk and margarine. Bring to a boil, stirring occasionally. Boil for 1 minute, then remove from heat and stir in the vanilla, salt, peanut butter and oats.
Drop by rounded spoonfuls onto waxed paper. Allow cookies to cool for at least 1 hour. Store in an airtight container.
Why did we call them Snoopy no bake cookies? I have no idea but it's better than the Spanglers name for them which was 'monkey poops'. Unfortunately I have all the ingredients to make these so they are going to temp me till I do. I'll let you know how long I hold out.

I made these as a quick treat for a friend.
Chad asked me to make them sugar free so I substituted splenda for the sugar. He ate them all so they weren't too bad but the texture was dryer and crumbly but it is an option if you're trying to go sugar-free.

I have been thinking about making these for a good month now and haven't dared to. Dared? Yes, Gary doesn't like them so I am left eating the entire batch myself. I haven't dared to.

I made these today. I kept walking by and eating one. Then when a row was gone I would cut the wax paper to make it look like none of the cookies had been eaten. I kind of lost count. Good thing my kids came home from school to help me out. Thanks A LOT Marjorie! I remember Chris making these yummie cookies when we were little.
